Electronic Waste - Ventura County Public Works Agency (2024)

The following e-waste recylcing options are available to Ventura County residents and businesses:

  • Televisions, computer monitors and Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs)
  • Printers and scanners
  • Central Processing Units (CPUs) and Laptops
  • Fax and copy machines
  • Video game consoles (X-Box, Playstation, Gameboy, etc.)
  • Computer peripherals (mice, keyboards, external hard drives, CD drives, floppy drives, etc.)
  • Cellular phones (remove battery)
  • VCR and DVD players
  • Stereo Systems (CD Players, radioes, etc)

In addition to the items listed above, some small appliances may also qualify as Electronic Waste (e-waste). As a general rule of thumb, if a small appliance is programmable, it likely contains a circuit board and the solder used in circuit boards often contains lead or mercury, which is hazardous and therefore is e-waste. A microwave oven is a good example of a programmable small appliance which qualifies as e-waste. Small appliances, which are not programmable, pose no hazard to the environment and may be placed inside your curbside recycling container. Examples of such items include coffeemakers, blenders, and toasters.Listed below are government sponsored e-waste disposal sites, private businesses, and re-use programs.

NOTE:Eachlocation has its own e-waste policy on what items they accept, any charges, andwhether or notthey accept business waste. Please call individual locations for information.
