The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative (2024)

The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative, also known simply as the Fazbear Fanverse, is a collaboration by Scott Cawthon and creators of popular Five Nights at Freddy's fan games, first announced on August 21, 2020.^[1]

This project is, in Scott's own words, "a giant collaboration involving several fangame creators who have made some of the most popular fangames over the years here in the community. It's a project that's designed to invest into those franchises, give back to the developers, and hopefully bring new entries to those franchises as well!".^[2]

Description[]

Cawthon's goal with this project is to support creators of some of the most popular Five Nights at Freddy's-inspired fangames out there. As such, he will help fund the development of new games for these series. Along with that, some older games in the various series will be remade due to the use of assets that were either copyrighted or made by uninvolved people. This must be done for another part of the project: releasing these series for sale on console and mobile devices in series bundles. Series involved will also end up producing official merchandise, such as Youtooz collectibles and plush toys. More series may be added to the project in the future depending on the success of the initial releases. As far as his involvement, Cawthon said he is simply funding everything and letting the creators work on their projects and interact with the community at large as they normally would. While it is clear that the Fazbear Fanverse games are confirmed to be officially part of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise as a whole,^[1][3] they will remain in their own continuity (although POPGOES and Five Nights at Candy's are confirmed to take place in the same universe) and thus not canon to the story of any official continuities of the original Five Nights at Freddy's series.^[4]

However, not all fangames will get officially endorsed or licensed for the initiative due to copyrights, vulgar content, etc.^[1] Some games for example include: Five Nights at Treasure Island, Five Nights at Wario's, Dayshift at Freddy's, Five Nights at F**kboy's, etc.

Five Nights at Candy's[]

Five Nights at Candy's^[2] is a series by Emil Macko, who is making Five Nights at Candy's 4 and FNAC FUR, as well as updating the first three Five Nights at Candy's games for consoles and Steam.

The Joy of Creation[]

The Joy of Creation^[2] is a series by Nikson, who is making THE JOY OF CREATION.

POPGOES[]

Main article: POPGOES

POPGOES^[2] is a series by Kane Carter, who is developing POPGOES Evergreen, among other projects. The series is ongoing, with the first spin-off in the series, POPGOES Arcade, released on June 12, 2020 on Game Jolt, with its expansion, POPGOES and the Machinist, released on July 1, 2022, on Steam alongside the full game. The second spin-off in the series, myPOPGOES, was released on Game Jolt on April 3, 2023, and set to release on Steam on August 1, 2024.

One Night at Flumpty's[]

One Night at Flumpty's^[2] is a digitally-animated parody fangame trilogy by Jonochrome. The series is officially completed, with the final game, One Night at Flumpty's 3, releasing on Game Jolt, App Store, and Google Play on October 31, 2021. The planned console ports that were being developed by Clickteam have been put on hold for an indefinite amount of time.

Five Nights at Freddy's Plus[]

Five Nights at Freddy's Plus^[2] was a remake/re-imagining of the first Five Nights at Freddy's that was previously under development by Felipe Moraga. Phil announced his termination from the project on August 4, 2023, and a day later, the game was removed from Steam, seemingly finalizing its cancellation.

Trivia[]

• This is the first time Scott has collaborated with creators who created popular Five Nights at Freddy's fan games.
  • Scott may continue collaborating with more fan-game creators if the initiative is successful at launch.
• The trailer for the mobile ports of One Night at Flumpty's was released early on the official Clickteam LLC YouTube channel on October 27th, 2020.
• On April 1st, 2021, Mairusu claimed that his Five Nights at Freddy's fangame, Five Nights in Anime, would be part of the next wave of The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative, complete with a "teaser" on the Scott Games website. However, he revealed the next day that it was an April Fools' Joke.^[5]
• Kane Carter revealed on Twitter that he has sent Scott a pitch to add a possible reboot of CHASE Animatronics, a fangame he made as part of Team EKS, to The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative once he is done working on POPGOES Evergreen and Emil is done working on Five Nights at Candy's 4.^[6]
• According to Kane Carter on Discord, the Jolly series was going to be part of The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative. However, Scott was unaware that the Jolly series used copyrighted material. Not only that, IvanG released a teaser for the Fanverse on Twitter before even responding to Scott, alerting the other Fanverse developers of his involvement. After informing Scott of the copyrighted material and the teaser, IvanG was removed from The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative.^[7]
• On April 12th, 2022, JeliLiam revealed that he was in discussions with Scott to make an original game for the Fazbear Fanverse called Aftonbuilt, but it was declined. A demo was released later that day.^[8]
• Another fangame, called Chomper's, was under development and planned to be a new official Fazbear Fanverse game, but due to controversy involving the game's director, the game was entirely cancelled before it was even sent to Scott. Although, a pitch demo became available on Game Jolt for free.^[9]
• Scott registered another company, Fazbear Fanverse, LLC, on October 26, 2021.^[10]
• According to Kane Carter, Fanverse characters such as Candy the Cat and Popgoes the Weasel were capable of being added to Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery, as a manager from Illumix, Inc. had mentioned that they were considered part of Scott's official roster.^[11] However, this never occurred prior to the game's closure.^[12]
