El Moro Spirits & Tavern is a hip bar with steampunk decor that serves seasonal New American eats and weekend brunch. They have a greasy, delicious, protein-rich, alcohol-absorbing menu with co*cktails made from the hair of the dog that bit you.

Everything we ordered was delicious. Seating for 6 was plentiful. Wednesday meatloaf sandwich, roasted tomato sandwich, cuban, salmon and daikon salad plus the kids menu was a hit with the kids. Ambience inside for lunch was great - would be even better at night with the mountain tavern atmosphere.

I live in Phoenix and travel through Durango frequently so I have made a habit of trying new restaurants each time I am there.El Moro was fantastic. The service was amazing from start to finish, the food was delicious, and their menu was expansive in both food and drinks. The decor was so well put together and it created a fun and cozy vibe. The bathroom was also super cute and clean.I’ll definitely be back soon, if only just for a drink at the bar.

Christa L — Google review

Our river guide from Southwest river trips recommended El Moro. It didn’t disappoint. Food was amazing and service was top notch! We had a party of 6 and we got sat right away (went around 5:30). One must have is the Scotch Egg.

I stumbled across El Moro nearly 4 years ago on a brief overnight in Durango. The food and especially service, thanks to Thomas Wallace was so good that I knew I would be back one day. Thomas spent hours teaching me about spirits and introducing me to new co*cktails. He even shared the history about many of the spirits. His passion and skill were top tier!Fast forward to now, an unfortunately Thomas is not presently working at El Moro, but I was fortunate enough to have stayed in touch with him. He connected me with the GM, Mandi and together the two of them helped make my engagement day an unforgettable experience. The food, co*cktails and service remain amongst the best I’ve ever experienced. This place will be a staple for us every time we visit Durango!Thank Thomas, Mandi, Paco, Ralph, Greg, Conner and Emerson for your hospitality and incredible service!

A nice mix of different cultured foods presented in an elevated manner. I had the lamb burger and it was lovely and the next day I had the mojo risin' sandwich with a side salad topped with red wine vinegrette. Their prices are super affordable and the quality is great. They even have a ladder for their booze. You'll just have to go! 😂

Osira — Google review

Where do I start? Well first off we were greeted by super friendly hosts and the wait staff were all professional and knowledgeable. Ours liked to eat here as a customer before working here. The co*cktails are refined and mixed by experts. The food was really great. I had a salad with fresh greens and a complex dressing. The salmon was truly perfect and we folded with a yummy dessert. The atmosphere is casual so don’t obsess about that you wear. The food and experience will rival any high end restaurant.

Bob B — Google review

Tony, Tommy, & Tiffany delivered a killer service. Enormous spirits selection including whiskey options that rises up a two story wall.Every restaurant shut down food service @ 9:00 on a Saturday night, but their kitchen remained open till 11:00. So happy I didn’t to have to resort to a grilled cheese or drive through and instead got a 5 star meal. Prices are very reasonable too!

Service is amazing went to the bar ordered food had been served at a timely manner order drinks each came out perfect the bartender Sterling made the perfect Whiskey Sour his choice on ingredients was amazing. Over all food and drinks were great would recommend for those who have a specific taste in beverage selection was very vast.

The hostess with the long hair was super rude. When we asked for a table of 8 she looked annoyed and made us wait another 20 minuets before seating us, after we had just waited 20 minuets with only 2 people in front of us. Every time she went to go seat someone she took forever and talked with everyone before seating another person.( It took at least 10 min to seat one person)We wanted to get a drink while waiting, the hostess told us we could not, or we had to eat at the bar. We understood but not even 5 mins later she made an exception for 2 other guests. We did grab a menu since we had waited so long and the hostess was making comments to her bartender about us. She said ugh why did you let them grab a menu, the bartender replied they just grabbed it. She kept on raving on about the menu we grabbed it seemed to upset her , but some how she was not bothered by her service. The service was annoying at this point. We were getting ready to leave when we finally got seated. The waiter did make up for some of the hostess rudeness, but he shouldn't have too. We spent well over $600.00 that night at this establishment. Its fair to say that we will not be stopping by again after the whole ordeal. The food was okay but the customer service from the hostess was awful .

Bertha B — Google review

The co*cktails were amazing! It's a great atmosphere. My only wish was that the Scottish egg was runny- it was overcooked, and drowned with sauce That's probably why the chefs didn't catch it. Whenever it came out the kitchen they couldn't see the egg yolk cuz there was too much sauce. But honestly the sauce was overpowering. I was really excited to try a Scottish egg for my first time but it was kind of disappointing and I would have said something to my server but when I looked up my husband was finishing the other half so it was too late.I'd return again if you had bone marrow and another co*cktail.

Syann H — Google review

The food was good, presented very well. The portions were a touch less than average, but their various charcuterie boards were priced nicely to make up for it. The waiter was a complete flake, visited us once throughout the meal, offered us free dessert for my wife's birthday, then completely forgot, even after reminding him. We aren't the type to remind someone a third time, so it ends up here.

BAMF — Google review

Is the food at El Moro good enough to make up for the terrible service? No, not in my opinion. One would think that the manager at El Moro would appreciate the extra money being spent in the establishment while we waited for the rest of our party and our reservation time at the bar but the attitude we received proved otherwise. If you are looking for a fun night out with more than five people, find another restaurant. The more people in your party the less excited they are to have you dine with them. The reservations were unable to be processed online and had to call the restaurant to make a reservation, which required a credit card to charge if someone in the party didn't show up is not stated anywhere on the website. Is this only for larger parties or all reservations in general? Our waitress seemed to be enjoying her time even less than we were and was taking it out on us. Would not recommend it.

Veronica N — Google review

Recently went for dinner, seated quickly and order taken but waited about an hour after the order for the food to finally arrive. Simple order, burger and chicken sandwich. Server never came by to ask about another drink or to let us know food was going to take awhile, simply ignored while we saw others seated after us to get there food well before we did. Once food arrived, was cold and raw for the burger. Wanted to leave at this point but was offered a new burger that we waited around for but didn’t want at that point. Once we finally got the bill, they comped the 2nd burger but at that point we didn’t care since our evening plans were out the window due to the exceedingly long wait. We had tried eating there once before and hoped the long wait the first time was unusual but now see it is standard. We are local but have no plans to return in the foreseeable future. Many other places with same or better food with much more attentive service.

Ask about the Sherriff and the MarshallEl Moro was recommended to me by the front desk at the Stater Hotel. Typically, I'm skeptical of these recommendations but it was a wonderful evening to stroll up Main street and I soon found myself at the bar of El Moro. The service could not have been better! My glass was kept full of a wonderful liberation (try their twist on a Manhattan, amazing. For me the apple beet salad was unusual and delighted. The dressing is thick and smeared around the inside of the bowl (trust me on this one) and allows you to get just the right amount. The NY strip was fine, nothing that I would seek out again. But the people, so kind, so full of a unique place (check out the food grater lamps around the bar.)Oh, and don't forget to ask your server about the Marshall and the Sheriff.

El MoroAlex our waiter was spiffy, love his vibe, vivacious attitude. I loved the green curry mussels. Mhusband ordered the Bologogi, fabulous, loved the bokchoy! Jen and Calso did a great job greeting us and getting our table ready. Ricky walked by with the biggest smile on his face, carrying his favorite dessert to a customer.I WOULD RECOMMEND

Cindy L — Google review

The Firefly is delicious! The Southside was smooth and went down way too easy. we had the Bulgogi, ultra tender sirloin on top of risotto with a side of baby bok choi and black sesame seeds in spicy drizzle w/ microgreens. Wow, very pleasing! Great wait staff & friendly service. Our friends had the shrimp & grits and the lamb burger and were pleased with their meals too.

Pam B — Google review

Got a Monday Night ? beer that was very good. Kinda tasted like an Alagash White Ale but I haven’t peeked in the brown paper bag yet to find out the big secret. Wifey had the “Remember the Maine” and it was very good — kind of a sweet peppermint flavor.

Joel B — Google review

Fantastic food. The BLT was incredible with sliced apples, cucumber and a tomato chutney. The Cobb salad and bacon burger were great also. Is you're ever in Durango, stop by El Moro!

Eolus Bar and Dining is a restaurant located downtown Durango, Colorado that offers an intimate setting with private booths and cozy tables. The menu changes frequently and features dishes crafted from the finest local ingredients.

We ate a truly great meal with exceptional service from Ryan. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and excited to share the great food and drinks. They also had amazing kids menu and made our family feel very welcome. My boys loved the beef tenderloin dinner and chocolate ice cream dessert. This is a true gem in Durango and one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. Thank you to Ryan and the rest of the Eolus staff for a great night out.

We went to Elous to celebrate a birthday. The whole evening was exquisite from the drinks, the food, the service and the ambience. We were led to our table which was was spread in just enough birthday confetti across the center. Taylor, our server, was phenomenal. She recommended the double bone pork chops for me. They were cooked perfectly. My dining partner enjoyed her birthday dinner of vegetarian coconut curry as well. Three different flavors of sorbet were complimentary for a birthday dessert. Eric, the manager, and his staff provide a lovely dining experience.

Nancy W — Google review

Best fine dining in the four corners area! The, “Duck Two Ways” was one of the best duck plates I’ve had in over a decade, everything on this dish compliments each other perfectly. Service was great. The seasonal butterscotch Old Fashioned co*cktail was our favorite. Also! Highly recommend the pork belly & scallops appetizer.

Tory D — Google review

The service was truly amazing. Food was great and the atmosphere was nice as well. If you are looking for a nice dinner out in Durango this is your spot.

What an amazing experience! We love Eolus, their service, food and drinks are wonderful. Whitney definitely made my birthday dinner top notch! We had the ribeye and scallops - some of the best scallops we have ever had! I highly recommend, especially for celebratory occasions.

Brittny B — Google review

What an absolutely wonderful experience. It was my husband and I's anniversary and they went above and beyond to make it such an amazing experience. The service was incredible, food was spectacular, and the vibe was so great. The little details like glitter on the table and making sure we could split our entrée made that entire evening one of the best we have ever had. The food was fantastic. My husband is a chef and was thoroughly impressed by the entire presentation down to the flavor. The drinks were wonderful! I haven't had an old fashioned I have enjoyed in SO LONG. It is so hard to find somewhere that makes them right and it was amazing. The server we had was so kind, thoughtful, and made sure we felt looked after and knew exactly how to describe each special in a way that made us question what food to even order since it all sounded so good! What a great experience. Thank you for making our night so so special.

Megan R — Google review

One of the best places to eat in Durango. Ryan provided excellent service. The food was superb. The mixed greens salad and the surf and turf are highly recommended. The peppermint creme brule was a stand out. Great atmosphere. Two thumbs up to the Chef.

Carol M — Google review

Best plated meal I think I ever had hands down , 100% top notch. Knowledgeable about their whiskeys and drinks, steaks cooked to absolute perfect and the lobster is to die for !!!

J J — Google review

This is a great "upscale" restaurant in Durango. The quotes are not meant to belittle or appear sarcastic. If anything, they are meant to define my version of upscale. This is a family environment where it doesn't matter what you wear. However, be prepared to have a great meal. It starts with the staff. Our waiter was beyond knowledge about his menu, the ingredients, drink pairings, co*cktails, wines... you need it. My family enjoyed the special for the night as appetizers and had ordered the rack of lamb, a steak, and some drinks for our night out. I've attached a picture for your review. It's been a while since our visit and the posting of this review, thus I apologize for not remembering the names of the dishes. However, the specials rotate - if they have the layered potatoes algratib, though, have them!

Christian S — Google review

5 Stars all the way around. Our waitress was very attentive. Made sure we had everything we needed but was also patient when we were deciding which wine to choose. Quiet upscale ambiance. Everything we ordered from the wine to the steak was perfect! My favorite “trick” was that our party of 6’s meals were all placed on the table at the same time by 6 different servers. Way to make a group feel special.

Michelle — Google review

Ok. Wanted a steak and saw the hanger steak on the menu. Oof. Spendy...... But really worth it. I had the hanger steak. Ordered medium, shoulda ordered rare ( tough as hell to chew, let me get to the flavor. Bear with me). The steak came on a tomato paste stuff, with garlic aoli, and seared shish*to peppers. OMG the medley of flavor. I ordered wrong (med vs rare or med rare for that cut) so that's on me. Wow. Also had a pair of (20? ) layer garlic potato cubes. Fantastic. Sooo pretentious and not my scene, but holy cow the food was delicious. Buddy got scallops and an off menu petit filet. Loved it. Buddies wife had the sushi of some sort and raved about it. And we had drinks, so Moscow mules and bourbon neat. Oof- over my usual comfort level for cost , but so worth it.

R Z — Google review

I would rate this as a 5 star restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing the pairing of flavors and plating was phenomenal. The service was top notch, the servers all worked in sync to make sure our drinks were full and the meals arrived at the same time; not just us but all the other patrons. There was a table of 4 and 4 servers lined up and brought the customers their food at the same time. I enjoyed the lamb and my wife had the chimechurrie hanger steak. The drinks were amazing as well. I enjoyed the "life's a beach" beverage, and martini with blue cheese olives. This restaurant was so good the only feedback I can give on a change would be to the olive oil, the bread is fantastic and arrives with olive oil. Just plain olive oil I would like olive oil with some balsamic and cracked pepper or chilie olive oil. That would put them over the top.

Tony T — Google review

There was a group of us of about 50 people. The food was very good and the wait staff was exceptional. I want to recognize Matt who was our primary waiter. He did an excellent job of taking care of such a large party. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Barry — Google review

If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars I would. It’s been a very long time since I’ve left a restaurant speechless. We came for our anniversary dinner to celebrate each other.Starting with the atmosphere: it’s the perfect intimate setting where the sound doesn’t carry so it feels as if it’s only your party in the entire building. The service: from the moment you step through the front door, you feel the genuine care of their staff. They’re there for a purpose and it’s to create a sensational experience. Our server Barney, was informative and strait to the point which I appreciate. He was courteous and what’d you expect out of an exceptional server with years of experience. The food:Gosh, where do I even start. The sushi was incredible and even though it’s the last place you’d expect to find it, it’s easily the best sushi in Durango. Entree’s deliver with presentation and flavor. I got the hanger steak(with the chicken accompaniments) and my partner got the duck two ways. I am really appreciative they accommodated to my desires from two different plates; I sincerely thank you. Dessert is 10/10. The ice cream is the perfect luxurious texture combined with a rich pistachio flavor. Easily the best pistachio ice cream I’ve ever had in my 30 years on this planet.Lastly the co*cktails were delicious. All balanced and I doubt there’s a distasteful co*cktail on the menu. I LOVE pickle brine and was pleasantly surprised with the lightness of this jalepeno infused tequila co*cktail that featured cucumber and house-made pickles. Thanks Eolus for making our anniversary special. We will definitely be back soon.

We were advised to visit Eolus by our Jeep tour guides. All three of the gentlemen told us we needed to go to try their Lobster hamburger & black Manhattan. Unfortunately, they were not serving the hamburger that day, but my husband did try the Black Manhattan and it did not disappoint. The entire staff was extraordinary from the moment we walked in to when we walked out. They even hold the door for customers when they leave!Definitely will go back if we visit from Chicago again!

Stacey B — Google review

We came for dinner about 5pm. The atmosphere was great, not too crowded or loud. Our server was awesome and attentive. Appetizer was a corn chowder 7/10. My ribeye dinner was wonderful 10/10. My husband has a pork chop dinner 9/10. Dessert overall 8/10. I recommend.

K B — Google review

Eolus is always a fantastic dining experience. The menu has changed each time I've been there, but on my recent visit I had the daily special of cream of mushroom soup, lamb lollipops, venison, black cod, and palisade peach custard with biscotti. Everything was seasoned perfectly and perfectly portioned. The wait staff is wonderful and can make recommendations based on what you would like. I highly recommend eating here if you're in Durango.

Brewpub

Carver Brewing Co. is a longstanding microbrewery in Durango, Colorado that specializes in award-winning ales and hearty pub grub. It's a popular spot for locals and tourists to relax with some delicious beer and good food. The brewery features an outdoor patio that's perfect for enjoying a relaxing drink outdoors, as well as some of the brewery's unique craft beers.

This is a great place to eat. The service here is outstanding. Extra friendly and helpful. The beer was great as well. If you love green chili you will like the food here. I will definitely be back and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

What a great experience. We were a massive group of adults and kids and they were completely accommodating. They gave us a table for just the kids. They took care of splitting bills to respective families and they did this all without skipping a beat or showing any hesitation or frustration. The staff was amazing from beginning to end. I highly recommend this place. The food was delicious and the ambiance was on point. I most definitely go back and you should definitely pay them a visit.

Great little brewery! Way less busy than Steamworks. I had the Four Corners Steak sandwich which was amazing. I would recommend getting a flight of beers, it's only $11. The double ipa was smooth and the raspberry beer delicious. Service was great also.

Great and fast service. Very delicious food! We got the ham and cheese and BBQ bacon burger: so good! And they're fries are different and amazing! We got our food really fast! We also loved their atmosphere and music.

Dan E — Google review

Ordered the Reuben and a very refreshing ginger beer :) also pictured is the desert rose co*cktail, which was very mild and fruity. The Reuben was delicious, super generous amount of corned beef and good flavor, I would recommend to fellow Reuben lovers. The fries were a bit too burnt for me but there are other sides you can choose from. Service was good and atmosphere was great for sharing a meal with friends after a long day of skiing at purg❄️

Above average bar food. Smash burger was tasty but VERY smashed. Kinda gave it a weird texture. Hearty thick cut fries were good. Tasty broccoli soup. Beer flight was just okay. The Munich Dunkel stood out. The stout was flat and thin. Excellent friendly servers.

Great place to enjoy a beverages and food. Friendly staff, they like to help you suggest what's are favorite beverages and food. Highly recommend this establishment. Prices are reasonably set. They have a very clean place. Their pretzel is very tasty and made to order.

One of my favorite restaurants in Durango. The food and service have always been consistent. My wife and I had lunch there. I try to eat healthy with gluten free and vegetables. I ordered the chimechurrie salad and it was not very good I was trying but it lacked flavor. Pam our amazing server actually noticed I was having a hard time eating the salad and told me to try something else. She took the salad away and brought out the mushroom salad and it was fantastic, I ate it all. My wife loved her sandwich and I had a root beer they make and it was great. Thank you Pam for being awesome, she turned the situation around and I ended up having a fantastic lunch and not being disappointed with my choice. Oh yeah the buffalo wings are da bomb.

Tony T — Google review

The food was excellent, the atmosphere was superb but there was no connection with our waitress. She did her job but that was it. Was she having a bad day? Was it because we were gay? Which is the thought I had because she went out of her way to serve the man/woman couple behind us. I left with a sour taste in my mouth...

Clark B — Google review

Found out this is one of the original breweries in Colorado. The server was from New York incredibly attentive multitasking server. Someone that should be training the rest of the world on how to treat customers. Not too much time with one customer and able to have peripheral vision enough to help everybody that's within eye distance.I love the hazy my wife loved the sour. My birthday is tomorrow and our anniversary is the next day we're going to be back. And then back to home.

James R — Google review

Great place! Great location. Great food. Great beer. Great patio! We had the black and blue burger and the chicken avocado wrap. The only disappointment was no discount even though my last name was Carver 😄

Russ C — Google review

This was the first restaurant my husband and I tried after arriving to Durango and it was a great one! The vibe was quiet and dark/moody inside. It made for a great place for a romantic date. Our waitress was attentive and professional. The pretzel was huge and scrumptious! We split one and honestly, I could have had one to myself and filled up on that and beer. The mac and cheese with bacon crumbles had good cheesy flavor and the portion size was huge. I took about half of it home.Beer was top notch! I’m a craft beer fan, love to try all varieties and this place hit the spot!

Kaci P — Google review

We had a couple locals both recommend this place so we thought we'd give it a try. I ordered the Mac and cheese and was told it was a big plate and that I would probably need to take half of it home. Not so. The plate was large, the food was not. One thin layer of noodles with a cheese sauce underneath. Not impressive at all, especially for $20. I ate the whole thing in a couple minutes then sat there and watched everyone else at my table stuff their faces. They seemed to enjoy their food. Our server was fantastic and kind. I may try this place again next time but I'll be skipping the Mac n cheese. I've had significantly tastier macaroni at half the cost.

Connie S — Google review

This is my go to, every time. I’m not big on eating out but I will for here and I’m sure take out is an option. I had some veggie sides and fries with some chili and cheese. My partner had the Colorado Mojado which is absolutely amazing!!! I love their lightner creek lager. It’s right along the main road and perfect stop while you’re browsing or headed through.

Kasey S — Google review

Second time being to Carvers and I enjoyed it as much as the first time! We were promptly sat by the hostess and soon after greeted by our server with waters. I ordered a rodeo burger with fries and it was delicious! The server continued to provide excellent service as well as do his duty to offer dessert(s) but the meal was plenty and had no space for more. The ice tea is freshly brewed and exactly what I was looking for. It was a great place for our Valentines date. Will definitely be returning

Whitney — Google review

Tasty southwestern cuisine, great drinks, overall solid joint. I had the enchiladas and the wife had mac n cheese. Both were not mind-blowing by any means, but still delicious and good for the price. Drinks were fantastic, and the staff was friendly. Definitely a good stop while in Durango.

Tyler T — Google review

Cool place on Main St. Oldest brewpub in the Southwest, apparently. Excellent beer & food. Really great service. I had the portobello melt & a flight of dark beers. Good stuff!

Harold R — Google review

We couldn't decide where to go, finally picked this place since I enjoy craft beer. If you want the most amazing burger, you definitely need to stop here, it's to die for, and if you like ranch, this is by far the best on planet earth! I had the stout and one of the ambers, I have attached pics. The service is fantastic, we probably had one of the best servers. We first sat outside but it was chilly so we asked to be moved inside, glad we did because the place is super cute! I attached the menu, I could have tried the pretzel but I didn't and kind of regretted it since everything was AMAZING. So so good!!! So glad we stopped. Oh and FYI once you pay your tab you get a sticker! Awesome little detail. 😉

Vee T — Google review

Couldn’t stop going back to this place. First visit was beers and apps. Second was co*cktails and dinner. Third was dessert and drinks. This was over the course of 28 hours with plenty of other options. Everything we ate/drank was delicious and the staff was helpful and super positive. Look forward to another visit

M D — Google review

*Update* I returned and had the Corned Beef Reuben. It was one of the best reubens I've had in a long time. Juicy and fantastic, the bread was toasted to perfection. The fried zucchini was a little bland, some green chile or even a little garlic would help. All in all, loved the experience! - I've lived in the area all my life. How did I overlook Carver Brewing Co.? The food was fantastic! The angel wings had the most amazing flavor, and those alone would send me back. We had the burgers, and they were cooked perfectly, juicy, and delicious. Try the tatanka, Buffalo is one of my favorite proteins.

Super fun atmosphere, server was great, clean place. Bathroom clean, popular place. co*cktails were good. Steak was really good. Nachos were a little over cooked and forgot nacho cheese but still good. Parking hard.

I expected so much more! All the locals kept telling me to check this place out so I did.First off, we had to wait for 2 hours to be seated. Thankfully we were allowed to wait in the back patio area and order some drinks. The employees, are so friendly and attentive. They are great. The atmosphere is very upbeat, it’s packed so it’s noisy, but fun. Now to the food.My husband and daughter got their boil and it was very bland. It lacked flavor. My steak, was over cooked, they did take it back and they brought me another one which was also over cooked so I just decided to deal with it. The beer was nice and cold however. The worst part however was the next day when my husband, daughter, and me all got food poisoning. We believe it was the seafood since that was the only thing we all ate in common.

We're always trying breweries on our travels. Steamworks was a good choice. We had 2 solid beers, the Steam Engine Lager and the Lizard Head Red. Hubby had clam chowder and the fish tacos. Chowder was a little thin, but had a good flavor. Fish was crispy and cabbage slaw added a sweet, crunchy note. I had the Rachel sandwich which is like a Reuben. It was solid. Cajun fries had just the right amount of heat. Great service as well.

Genell M — Google review

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. I had the chiriso meat loaf on a bed of mash potatoes and let me tell you it was beyond what I expected! It was so good! My wife had the burger and it was well put together and very juicy. The beer was very delicious! Much recommended!

There was a 30 to 40 minute wait for a table for two, but we were able to find two spots at the bar and eat right away. The bartenders were friendly and pretty quick given how busy they were. We should have checked Waitlist and got on the list online before coming in, since they offer that.We had the Cobb salad, the smoked 12 oz sirloin, and the Cajun dusted wings.I've never had smoked steak before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I guess I was just thinking maybe it was a smoky sauce. But it was delicious! The steak actually had a smoky flavor. We ordered it medium rare and it came medium. The Cajun dusted wings weren't really spicy. Tasted more like seasoned salt and pepper. We tried several beers. Really enjoyed the seasonal sour and the red lizard.

Good place for a meal. We visited here as recommended by the manager of our hotel. My husband had trout (without blackening) and I had cheddar and green chile waffle and chicken. My husband loved his trout and I loved my waffle. The chicken, not so much. It was dried out from either over cooking and/or sitting under a heat lamp. For desert with had turtle cheesecake which was good. Service was initially good but got slower as the meal went on.

Bacon Royale with cheddar made me feel like royalty. Warm grilled bun, crisp lettuce & tomato, smashing delicious bacon, perfectly cooked Angus patty.Side salad is $1 extra and the best $1 value this decade. Mixed greens, cheese crumbles, pine nuts, cherry tomatoes, black olives, snappy ranch.Backside stout was deep, dark, simply lovely.Other dishes equally delicious.Atmosphere is the antithesis of pretentious. Comfortable & lively.

This review is long overdue! I visited Steamworks Brewing Company back in March with a group of five others. There were other members of our party that were seated throughout the restaurant. I ordered the Southwest Salad! It was amazing. The cilantro lime vinaigrette really took it to the next level! I think we had visited at the right time, because shortly after we were seated people started coming in quickly. From the moment we walked in their doors, we were greeted with friendly service. However, I gave them four stars in service because my server brought me someone else’s food. It’s not a super big deal, it was just one of those moments where I felt uncomfy and was like should I just eat it? Haha It also took us a significant amount of time to receive our checks following our meals. I understand that they were accommodating other guests, and this just happens sometimes! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Steamworks Brewing Company, and I recommend visiting! Thank you, Steamworks Brewing Company!

Had a 45 minute wait, but they can text you when table is ready. It's close to shops so you can window shop while you wait. The beer is really good, the food is excellent. The kids menu has a lot of options.

Dinner was pretty busy on a Tuesday evening. We were quoted 20 minutes but were sat in half the time. Ordered the aloha burger and the food runner made us chuckle greeting us with "aloha". A little more BBQ sauce on the burger would have been nice. Loved the garlic mash potatoes. Southwestern was good, beer fries were delicious. Friendly staff.

Great atmosphere. Before I comment I would say I will come back. The staff was very upbeat, well trained, and completely over the top at all aspects. The steaks are a different rating. I’d rate the steaks 3 out if 10. We had the chimichuri steak and the strip. Not a good cut and not well prepared. As an expert, the steaks were cold when cooked, not reverse seared etc. . The gristle was unbearable and the chewing was terrible. The sides were cold. The drinks were great. Will definitely come back and try something else. Overall over the top restaurant.

Great place to eat. Great service, friendly staff. They’ve changed the pasta from Penne to Fusilli. The portion is a little smaller than before, and they no longer serve this with garlic bread, but still tasty.

Joel P — Google review

We really enjoyed this spot! Wait was a bit long, but I think worth it. We got a seat at one of the windows they keep open on the street side, so cool. They had t.v.s on throughout. The drinks were great, and the food was yummy. Can't wait to go back and try the other things we wished we could have tried.

This was my favorite place for a long time, but over the last 3 years, I've less impressed with each visit. I think today was the last straw. The prices are through the roof but the food and service are in the toilet. Today I got the fish and chips. I asked for my fries to be well done but they came out barely cooked. I asked my waiter to have them cooked longer but he said they did the best they could. The fish was okay but nothing special. Just 2 small and 1 medium piece. $60 for 2 people to have lunch is unacceptable. Add the paper straws and I'm done. Sorry Steamworks. We had some good times but no more.

The spinach and artichoke dip is a hard pass. It seemed like they ran out of cheese along with the mayo for the burger. The spin dip was dry. The bread that comes with it, does have the beer after taste. It is something unique to try. The pizza was okay but I wouldn’t ask for it again. The burger was the highlight of the meal. The patty was juicy and flavorful. The bacon royale was a great choice. The meat was of quality and it was thick which we appreciated that. The Cajun fries were standard Cajun fries and didn’t survive the meal. The servers: our server was nice. The other table’s server was out of line. She was quite rude to a party of 6 and how she conducted herself was uncalled for. Since she lacked the feeling of embarrassment, I was embarrassed for her. I do hope this was a server and not the manager.

Best food in town that we've found so far, hands-down, and we've been to Durango a few times! Loved their beers, especially their non-IPA's! Great atmosphere for hanging out, and right in downtown where other local sites and the train station are, though I can see how finding parking may be an issue occasionally. We'll definitely come back again!

Brian B — Google review

I only dropped the food and service to 4 stars to accentuate the customer service! Great food and great atmosphere and vibes! Would definitely recommend anyone coming here to stop by.

Mikey G — Google review

The fries were the only good part of this meal. Got clam chowder (not good) and chicken tortilla soup (tasty!!!)Burger was cooked good, veggies were fresh but the bun was very cold and soggy. We also got the garlic mashers which were not tasty at all.Server did not seem to know the menu well when asked questions about soups and liquors

Steamworks is an awesome place to stop by if you’re in Durango. Josh was an incredible server, especially in a time where service isn’t the best everywhere. He offered great food suggestions as well as local wine recommendations that were also awesome. He was fun, friendly, and super attentive. We enjoyed the poke nachos, meatloaf, gyro, and tiramisu. I will definitely be back here!

This place is fantastic. The food and drinks are amazing. The prime rib french dip was the best. So tender and such a perfect smoke flavor.

Nice brewery in Durango CO, I bit busy and we were new in town so didn’t know that pretty much every place requires reservations. We were able to get in and sit at the bar, service at the bar excellent, at the entrance was ok, I guess the high demand can put the girls over the edge. My husband ordered prime rib sandwich and I ordered a Cali burger, I gotta say the patty was really good, no greasy or heavy and fries were good too! My husband enjoyed his sandwich, I didn’t try it as I was already full with the burger. We ordered the beer that is the local version of the German Kolsch , very good 😊

The restaurant was busy even on a Tuesday night. We had about a 40 minute wait. But the wait was worth it. We had a few drinks while we waited and they were good and strong. Then dinner was delicious. We ordered blackened trout, Mac n cheese, Cesar salad with salmon, BBQ pork chimichanga, and BLT.There were some gluten free options that were clearly marked on the menu.

Traditional American restaurant

The Diamond Belle Saloon is a traditional American restaurant in Durango, Colorado that features classic co*cktails and western-style cuisine. The establishment is beloved for its ragtime piano bar and renowned for its quality entertainment. In the summer, the Bell hosts gunfights between cowboys in downtown Durango. With great service, delicious food, and congenial atmosphere, Diamond Belle Saloon will make your next date absolutely perfect!

This place took us back in time. We sang along to the songs, laughed and interacted with other guests. Joe, the musician, even took requests for songs from his list of music. It was just an amazing experience. And the food was delicious! We got the French Dip, Chicken Caesar Salad, and Chicken Tenders for our daughter. The scenery is beautiful as well. We walked around the hotel after dinner as well, they had more antiques around the hotel like the old phone booths, old phones, telegram machine, etc. I recommend this place 100% if you go to visit Durango. ♥️

Really neat atmosphere and history. They even had live entertainment on a Tuesday night. The staff was nice and food came out quick. It was a decent portion, just think the prices are a little high for what you get, mostly in the spirits category. But I also understand I'm paying for an experience. I'm sad we didn't have time to tour the hotel. A friend told me tours are free. I got an Old Fashioned and the pork porterhouse. Was a little surprised/bummed to see they didn't have steaks on the menu. But definitely go check it out.

Osira — Google review

The saloon itself is well decorated and gives off a cozy atmosphere with its red carpet and soft interior. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the building. It's also located in a beautiful part of Durango.

Matthew W — Google review

Love, Love, Love this place! The history is imbedded into everything you see here. Such a great place to visit. It's basically an experience more than anything else. They've done such a great job capturing the spirit of the old west by restoring everything back to it's former beauty. One of the coolest places we've ever stayed! You can feel the history and your imagination just runs thinking about all the people that could have walked through that door. It's connected to The Strater Hotel which continues the theme throughout the entire place. We've stayed all over the country and this is definitely amongst the top of the list.

Went when they weren’t so busy in the early afternoon. Small but adorable bar. Awesome bartender was sweet and attentive. Made some great drinks. Will have to try the food next time. Was a very nice and cozy stop!

My husband and I had a great night out. We luckily found an open table when we arrived. We had a bit of a wait for our drinks, but the place was totally packed! Our food was good! I had the Philly cheese steak sandwich, and my husband had the hawian ribs. For dessert, my husband had the banana split. They had 2 guys playing awesome music that my husband thoroughly enjoyed! If ever back, we will definitely return!

We had such a great dinner experience that we came back the following night! Diamond Belle Saloon is truly a diamond! The atmosphere was very lively and the staff was friendly our bartender was spot on with his service. The women servers wore period costumes and looked really pretty. The band that played our first night was so good and the pianist our second night was such an accomplished entertainer. The food was really good, I had the Yew York strip the first night, the second night Cobb salad with the grilled Salmon. Very tasty. If you're in the Durango area and looking for good food ,great atmosphere and entertainment then Diamond Belle is the place for you!

Tina T — Google review

Excellent!! It was all pretty wonderful! The tables are packed in pretty tight, but the atmosphere and live music (they have played there for 30 years and lean toward bluegrass sounds!!) on Sunday nights make everything right with the world! Such a neat experience! Oh, their was this orange drink, maybe called an orange puff or something similar, that was delicious; I had two! Staff were great and dressed the part which is super fun!

Hillary J — Google review

It was around 2:30, so definitely a late lunch. I ordered off of the app. menu - it was a Chicken Quesadilla and a basket of Fries. Amazing! The Q' was packed with Chicken and the Salsa was so Good! The fries tasted like they were freshly cut to order.

David M — Google review

Excellent 19th century era establishment. The secret to getting one of their coveted tables and being able to enjoy the piano-based entertainment is to arrive early during their 4 to 6 happy hour. The period Costumes worn by the friendly staff only add to the charm. Chicken tenders were actually very juicy, fresh and great. Beer tap selection also notably ample, fresh, and local. This should definitely be one of your stops in Durango.

This is go-to when I'm in Durango. The atmosphere is so much fun. The service has always been good. The food is amazing. On this occasion I had the New York strip. It was delicious and more generous than the 6oz stated on the menu. The staff (Kaeli and Tarryn) were fantastic and added to the experience. The place was packed and they, along with the food runner, were able to remain positive, fun and professional. The band was very skilled.

Neat experience with a live piano playing. Customer service was great! Seated pretty quickly. The food was phenomenal. Chicken fried steak was cooked to perfection. Pot roast was placed over mashed potatos. Bourbon mix drink options were also great! It's a little tight for seating though.

Alcina M — Google review

Such a cute place! We loved eating in an historical place! The food was the best we had all trip! I highly recommend going if you’re in town. Also make sure to walk around after they have some cool interior design aspects.

Sarah K — Google review

The ambiance at Diamond Belle Saloon is great. The piano player is just fantastic and the interior is a must see.We wanted to have dinner. The wait staff ignored our party and the elder party waiting behind us, who ended up leaving as they said the couldn't stand very long. Wait staff glanced over a few times and didn't even mention that it's a seat yourself situation. After 5 minutes, we wandered over to the bar, where a customer said "Just sit wherever you can."So we looked around and saw that most tables were occupied, which I understand will happen on a Saturday night. However, there were a few tables where it looked like people were done with their drinks and were just sitting there enjoying the music and occupying tables. We waited 10 minutes more hoping that maybe their tables would be cleared, so that we could then sit and enjoy a meal. Not so. The wait staff didn't seem to care and it didn't seem like there was a time limit for table turnover. Pretty disappointing for a restaurant at such a famous establishment. There should probably be a hostess on busy nights as it seemed chaotic and unwelcoming when we visited.

Emilina B — Google review

This was the most inviting place in Durango. The atmosphere was wonderful, very professional. The girls looked so pretty and the man playing the ragtime piano music was very exciting and uplifting, just perfect! The food was fantastic, and the steak was prepared to perfection. We ate there twice, it was so good. We had to go back the very next night.

Derailed Pour House is a traditional american restaurant that offers delicious food and great service. They have live music every night, making it a great place to relax after a day of shopping or sightseeing.

Stop by on the way up the mountain. Service was excellent, food was amazing, as you see from photos, we tried a little of everything. Happy hour specials and drinks were excellent. You must try one of the speciality drinks, especially a smoked one, we will definitely recommend and come back.

Stumbled across this delightful brew pub/ gastropub and the family was much happier for it. We got seated immediately and ordered a few appetizers, meals and drinks. Everything we tasted was delicious - burger meat was really special (my picky eater son said it was the best he'd ever had!), Jalepeno poppers were great, smoked pork tacos were awesome and the drinks were refreshing. We'll be up rating this establishment for sure!

It was our last night in Durango and wanted to try something a little different and we paid a visit to Derailed Pour House. We opted to sit inside and it was awesome! They decor was so unique and warm; it was very relaxing place to hang out. They also had live music and it was loud enough to enjoy but tasteful and didn’t overwhelm the evening. So that’s all the pluses. On the downside, while very friendly, the service was noticeably slow, for no explainable reason. Took forever to be greeted once seated, getting our first round of drinks took an extended period, and they claimed the cook times were extended for some reason (wasn’t overly busy) and when the food finally arrived, it tasted as it had been sitting under the food warmer for a while. We skipped ordering dinner after an appetizer as we had a flight to catch the next day and dinner might have caused us to miss it.Again, all in all, a really cool place, just give yourself some time in case our experience wasn’t an isolated situation.

My Cuban pulled pork sandwich was amazing! It was so flavorful, house made bbq sauce, served with fries 😍 my waiter was very kind and attentive. Service was great, the porthole drinks are a cool concept but they do sell out. The first one was great the second was a different one that was not so great. The drinks are presented very well. Had a churro dessert with ice cream that was very good.

Had a great experience at this restaurant, the food was outstanding and the ambiance was so different from other places we have been. We just thought the colorful trees and our private dining area surrounded by old doors was so cool! Our server Morgan T. was attentive and made sure to check in on us often. Would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling to Durango, CO and looking for a nice night out.

Paul C — Google review

Me and my wife ate here on our way through, and we loved it. The atmosphere was great, and the food and drinks were even better, definitely worth a shot if you’re in the area, and especially if you’ve been let down by bars that make sub par drinks and food, you won’t regret it.

Kanyon K — Google review

This place was awesome! The vibes and atmosphere were amazing! The waiter was so nice and helpful. It was super cold sitting right by the front door. I had to eat with my coat on lol. The co*cktail menu is almost overwhelming… almost! We had a few different ones with the recommendation from our waiter and he didn’t disappoint! The appetizers were the best thing we had! The southwest egg rolls were the best we ever had! The cheese curds and cheese fries. The only thing that lacked at this place was the tacos. I tried 2 different ones in a lettuce wrap and my sister had 4 different ones. They did not have the best flavor. My kids ordered a burger and it was just an ok burger. My husband however loved the flatbread pizza he ordered!

Jessica W — Google review

Stumbled upon this place on vacation while walking on Main Street. The vibe here is super unique, interesting and cool. They have a large craft co*cktail menu, with house made syrups, flavoring etc. The food and service were also fantastic. We shared the chicken caprese with truffle fries, and the arugula goat cheese flatbread. If you want something other than a run of the mill restaurant, this is your place.

Joshua P — Google review

The atmosphere is great, the staff are very friendly, and the food and co*cktails are... disappointing. We got some of their signature co*cktails, including the Derailed Lemonade, and they were just not very good. Got a Cuban (and I do so love my Cuban sandwiches), and it turned out to basically be a subpar barbecue sandwich, and my wife had a quesadilla that was fairly bland. Even the fries were disappointing. So many good reviews, and yet so underwhelming.

Amazing service, amazing staff, extremely great atmosphere. Food was great, wasn't expecting to like the California flatbread as much as i did. My boyfriend and I had a great little date night here.

Tammi P — Google review

This place is phenomenal. It's unassuming as, at first glance, it looks like every other random bar you could go to. However, once inside, they have a vast menu of unique and artsy co*cktails that are delicious as well. The ambiance is like being in a well lit wonderland trip. Burger and sweet potato fries were also delicious. Pleasantly surprised!!!

It was worth the wait in time to get our food. I had been suggested this restaurant by a customer and was glad I stopped by. The atmosphere was great, there were fake trees inside with lights and it was gorgeous. The tables were secluded and had nice chairs to sit on. I noticed an outdoor patio in the back and think I'll sit there next time just to try it out. The menu had a variety of drink options from Alice in wonderland themed to witchy themed all with creative names. I ended up ordering an IPA on tap by the suggestion of the waitress and I was not disappointed. My food ended up coming out before my beer but I had water in the meantime(the menu did warn about the wait for items, so I wasn't too aggravated). I ordered a Buffalo chicken sandwich on a brioche bun and a side of coleslaw which was delicious! Though the items took longer than the normal wait time, the waitress seemed to be on top of her game. Will definitely return for another date night :)

We stopped in for dinner and drinks, my wife had a burger and I had the smoked pork tacos. All the food was delicious! Very unique atmosphere, we loved it. I recommend.

Lack of a kids menu should have been a sign…They definitely didn’t seem to want kids there. Sat us and another family with small kids at a high top tables and brought a standard height high chair, so we had to eat with kiddos in our laps. No kids cups, so had to try and ensure our kids didn’t break the giant glasses.Vibe was super cool and food was great. Just wish they considered families.

College Drive Cafe is a local Durango favorite for breakfast and lunch. The menu includes items such as soups and eggs Benedict, all of which can be eaten in or taken out. It's also veg-friendly and gluten-free, making it a great option for those with dietary restrictions. Plus, the cafe is located in an historic building, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.

Charmingly cozy and delicious place for breakfast. Came with my big family (6 adults and 3 kids) but they were very accommodating. Solid portions. Fun and tasty menu items. They made sure my coffee cup was never empty. Even made happy faces on the pancakes for the kiddos. It may have a small dining area but this place has a giant heart.

It was very good, and everything was cooked well and the service was very quick. Not busy when I stopped through. I liked the art prints, so I bought one and you should too. Bring some extra cash so you can pick up a print. Your trip and the memories you had in this amazing region will be completed when you have selected the art to remember it by. Go by a used record store and pick up an album you like and store the print in the record sleeve. It's the right size I promise. Reflect on how much you enjoyed your journey, leave a kind review and go home and feel good about your experience.

Cute, quaint Cafe. Wait time was 20 minutes. Text message to our phone when our seating was ready. Service was great. Waiter was friendly. Chicken fried steak was very good and my eggs over easy were just perfect. My husband's burrito was very good however the green chili lacked flavor.

Very nice local place. Got there while driving through. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the french toast was delicious! Waiters were all friendly and fast. Best thing: their coffee is actually a bit strong! The first coffee that tasted like coffee in my 3 weeks in the US! Loved it!

This is the second time we've eaten here and it was just as good the second time. Very reasonable pricing. Expect a little wait on the busy days as it is a small, intimate dining area. They have a smart phone based wait line and notifications so you can see how long to expect and how many are in front of you. Works very well!!Servers are always sweet and attentive. Pancakes and French toast are EPIC!!! Both are easily as good as Cracker Barrel, if not better. They're are a ton of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu plus your basic breakfast fare. We will definitely be back. The coffee is STRONG so if you are a wimp with your coffee like me, ask for extra cream.Enjoy. It's worth going off the beaten path for this one. (Very, very close to the college).

This place takes me back to my childhood. Reminds me of the diner I would go to as a kid with my Grandpa. Nothing fancy, which makes it great, and the food never disappoints. Chicken fried steak and the breakfast burritos are fantastic... Among many other things. The waitlist is super convenient since this is a popular spot.

Y’all. Read other reviews about what to order because we were not successful with ours. The omelet was not, in fact, an omelet. None of the vegetables were cooked and they don’t even melt the shredded cheese. The potatoes weren’t seasoned either. However, the servers were so friendly and it was very busy so maybe it’s a “It’s not you it’s me” situation.

Sarah A — Google review

Small place but probably the most affordable place for breakfast. The potatoes were boiled, I think, but not bad. If you guys crisped them up a little before serving them, they'd rate a little higher but breakfast was pretty good any way. I'm glad I ate here and probably will again the next time I'm in town. Picture of South Denver Omelette.

The dude with the really appetizing teeth was upset that he got “two 4 dollar tips in a row” and he wanted us to know. Thanks for telling us! We will make sure to never eat at this place again. Ungrateful people. Oscar’s is a million times better.

B K — Google review

Very small restaurant with very long wait. The food was mediocre at best. They don’t have disposable straws only the metal reusable which were dirty. The scrambled eggs weren’t cooked all the way. The pancakes were decent. The sausage were like rubber that came out of a box.

First time eating here and we will go back. The service was good. Very crowded when we were there, but the folks were pleasant and the food was really good. Cooked just like we ordered. Good flavors and and well prepared. The waitress was very friendly and nice. She checked back often and my wife said their coffee was really good.

Oscar's Cafe is a popular spot for American breakfast and lunch in Durango, Colorado. Its classic diner-style decor and hearty dishes make it the perfect place to relax and enjoy some good eats. The cafe offers a wide selection of foods to choose from, including homemade hash browns, chili verde, pancakes, omelets, French toast, cinnamon rolls, soups, salads, and homemade pies. There are also burgers, Reuben and club sandwiches on the menu.

Oh lawd this place is amazingly delicious!! Pies look homemade, hot cocoa, have you even seen one made like this in a restaurant... I don't think so. All our food was delicious, and the apple pie ala mod YUM! You'll probably have to wait for a seat but it's worth it!

Visiting the area and someone suggested we give Oscar's a try. We were very pleased with the food and the outstanding service. My wife had the Chili Verde over hashbrowns and eggs on top. She loved and the sample I had was great. I had their sausage and eggs, opting for the patties over the links. Definitely the right choice. The patties were outstanding. Our server was Riki and she was helpful, thoughtful, and had a great attitude. We will try to get back again before we leave the area.

The breakfast was really good! Some of the best biscuits and gravy and hash browns I've had. They're blueberry pancake is the size of a dinner plate and was super delicious as well. They're homemade hot sauce is quite flavorful and spicy but not super spicy. I loved having some of it on my hash browns. It's a very quaint place and very small. It has some really cool vintage decor. The owner is very welcoming and a delight. It styled after an old '50s diner. Plenty of parking out front. They tend to get quite busy and you can get on the waiting list via Yelp right inside there entrance via a tablet.

Burgers and rings were a great way to refuel after a long morning hike through the Narrows. Outside dining and a great view.

Wesley H — Google review

Frustrating experience. They're clearly very popular, and even though we used the remote check in option and arrived on time, we had to wait an additional 40 minutes. The poor souls seated outside were treated to dozens of people milling around them, staring at their food, and attempting to make unwelcome conversation. When we were finally seated, we were LITERALLY seated in front of the restrooms in a table that never should have existed (see the photo). There was 1.5 feet of space to pass through between our table to the wall, and our entire meal was accompanied by people standing by our table, commenting on our food, and bumping our plates. One person, while waiting to use the bathroom, actually asked us what we did to earn such a bad table. Toilet flushes, toilet smells, toilet noises, all throughout our meal. Why didn't I complain? Because my family would be back out in the rain waiting for another table, and some other family would be stuck at this miserable table. And it would only hurt the servers, who aren't the ones who decided to put a table here.No quality of food would make up for the lousy experience. That being said, the food was FINE. I've eaten at hundreds of popular diners over my life and the food was as good as any. But nothing truly exceptional.I got the verde plate, with 2 scrambled eggs, hash browns, green chili sauce, and a tortilla on the side. They smothered it, which made the hashbrowns soggy. The green chili sauce was quite good, and could hold its own as a stew. The tortilla was ok, but probably not homemade. The kids' pancakes were fluffy and unremarkable.Bottom line, management has a serious issue with experience. Our table shouldn't exist, the outside tables shouldn't exist, and the way they manage their wait-list is truly broken. The food is passable. The decor, while cute, looks like 1000 other diners out there and was invisible from our toilet-centric vantage point. Vote with your feet and pick a more accessible spot.

Absolutely a must!!! Food Delicious! Service A+ Family trip we are from MS, TN, and GA (Go Dawgs) passing through from ski trip in Telluride. French toast BEST EVER!!! Pancakes, Omlettes, Hashbrowns... You can't go wrong!!! Green chili sauce recommended by Oscar... Absolutely delicious. Very personable and kind treated us to one of his pies. Well worth it!!! Highly recommend!!!

Great food, busy place but very efficient, our food was on the table in no time. Just stop at Oscar's Cafe for a great breakfast.

Willem B — Google review

Wow. Locals know what is good. After reading the reviews, we decided to give Oscar's a try. And it was SUCH a good decision. The place was busy, so we joined a local couple who was almost done. We got there at 11, so breakfast was over. I got the burger and it was very flavorful. The shoestring fries could have been crisper, but still flavorful.Hubby also got a burger with onion rings. They were thick cut and flavorful. We will try breakfast next time for sure.I did get the cinnamon roll to go, but it wasn't worth it. However, the pie was excellent! Apple for me and coconut cream for the hubby.Outstanding!

I've been going here since 1993 and it is consistently delicious. The owner, Kelly, is absolutely fantastic and and gave me a cup of coffee while I waited for my table. Expect to wait, because it's that good! Otherwise get there early or order takeout, the Peak Out (my go-to breakfast) tasted just as good bringing it home as eating it there. It is a down home, welcoming vibe.

Erin S — Google review

I’ve been coming here my entire life and the food and service has been consistently amazing. Order anything with the chili verde and you won’t be disappointed! The new owners are awesome - I’ve never seen this place run so efficiently, and they’re very friendly too. I appreciate that they’ve improved it while maintaining everything that people love about Oscars. It’s worth the wait!

Amazing hash browns. Crispy, tasty, and not greasy! They use a three-day treatment process on the potatoes to make them amazing. The French toast is incredible and the syrup was awesome. The combo was unlike anything we have ever had. The eggs were perfect without being greasy. Service was fast and fabulous. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Best breakfast in Durango!! Visiting on vacation and found restaurants to be hit and miss! This one is a big hit. Small diner serving great food! Biscuits and gravy were delish!

Great setting , and I loved the little train going around the restaurant my only issue is the Green Chili I'm Born an raised in Nuevo Mexico I don't know what that was but that's not Green Chili

Henry C — Google review

This restaurant is phenomenal! The food was so delicious, I don't have the words to explain how good it was. The staff was kind and very attentive. The owner (at least I'm pretty sure it was the owner) was up talking to guests, seating people and cleaning up. I will definitely be coming back to this establishment. It's hard to find places like this in today's world. Job well done!!

A classic diner in the middle of a shopping mall in Durango. They've done this for 40 years and have it down pat. There's a bar and a row of tables crammed into a single unit, and it works perfectly. The menu has so many options. My wife and I split a breakfast burrito (it's that big!), and I had a slab of ham big enough to call dinner. It's rare that I leave food on a plate, but I did here.Look at the display of pies, amazing!Service is efficient and courteous to the extent of the rush of customers. We went around 11:00 and had no wait. High on the yum scale!

Gary B — Google review

This place is very popular, and their staff is a well oiled machine! Huge menu, amazing prices, fun atmosphere. We got here at 1030 on a Saturday, the place was packed. We got on the wait list and waited maybe 10 minutes... FYI if you get on the list before 11am you still get breakfast. Tables have a quick turn over and music is at a low volume so chatting is easy. We got the homemade biscuits/sausage gravy and southwest breakfast burro.. neighbor got one pancake! Huge portions!

Kayla K — Google review

Small diner, limited table and counter space, somewhat inconspicuous in the middle of strip center. Could be a wait at times, but believe me , worth any wait because it is a jewel once you walk in the door. The atmosphere will capture your attention , the menu will inspire and the food will complelely satisfy your taste. Excellent friendly fast service, awesome breakfast, gotta try the french toast, hash browns cooked to perfection, good value. I wouldnt go here if you are on a diet!

This is the first time in Durango. We enjoyed Oscars the first morning so much that we went every morning for five days in a row. Very nice staff on the mission to provide exceptional customer service, and delicious food. The restaurant has been around for 40 something years and was recently taken over two years ago. There was a great buzz in the air.

Lisa S — Google review

Classic Diner feel and look and legit the best breakfast burrito Ive ever gotten. Seriously, the best, Ive been all up and down the west coast and this is the one. Amazing portion size, the perfect ratio of egg, hash brown and sausage and it wasn't greasy. That's where most places fail is when about half way the grease from your protein or even eggs just starts spilling all out the bottom. Not with this burrito, the excess that did spill was a combo of condensation and juices. Coupled with that creamy homemade Tabasco they have it's just plain good. That's another one was this red sauce they had. Reminds me of Tabasco, but richer and creamier and less vinegar. Probably how Tabasco used to be before they went commercial and this place stepped up. My experience has only been the burrito but the rest of those menu options looked great and I wouldn't doubt they're quality considering that burrito.

Kyle R — Google review

Great diner atmosphere. My friend liked their breakfast very much. I enjoyed mine as well. I have dietary restrictions and they worked with me. Great choices to mix and match. I put green chili on everything, if I can.

Cori D — Google review

Hollie provided excellent service. Bacon cheeseburger with fries. Sampled the green chili. Topped off with a liege of Homemade Carmel Apple Walnut pie...yummy...I only wished I made it back in for a piece of coconut cream pie.

This place is amazing, had a great experience here for breakfast on our trip to Durango. Food was really good , the service was quick...very busy book ahead on there app....lines can be out the door, but well worth the wait.

A small local cafe with adequate variety of food & beverages. Stopped by twice at Oscar’s Cafe during the trip in July - once for lunch to dine in and next morning for breakfast takeout.Service - 5 starsFood Variety - 5 starsTaste & portion - 5 starsValue for money - 5 starsWaiting time - 5 starsAmbience - 4 stars - definitely a busy place and it may not be very convenient to dine in if you have toddlers / you did stop by during busy hours. We got there during off hours (about an hour before closing time) for lunch, so we didn’t have to wait longer to be seated. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the scenic view. Looked very busy in the morning next day. People were waiting in a long queue to order food / dine in. However, since we had preordered the breakfast for take out, it was quick as a wink. Grabbed the food and went to Rossa park which was in about two minutes driving distance from Oscar’s cafe. If you don’t mind enjoying your breakfast in a park and want to save some time from waiting in the queue, you may opt for a take out.All in all, it was a nice experience. Food was filling and each order came with a side. So, make sure you consider the portion before ordering multiple menu items.

Asian fusion restaurant

East by Southwest is a great place to get Asian fusion cuisine in Durango. The restaurant has sleek, modern décor and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. They have a wide variety of vegan and vegetarian options, as well as several co*cktails on offer. East by Southwest is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for some delicious Asian food in Durango!

I haven't eaten here in a decade but it's still very good. This is not a cheap meal, but I remember a skeleton I had here 12 years ago. How many other dishes that you ate can you remember in detail after more than a decade?

Chris L — Google review

The food was great, consistently one of the best sushi spots in the area. Went on a busy night, one of the schools was having prom so I understood there would be a wait. Waited 30 minutes to be seated, the server was initially very attentive, ordered our food and waited almost an hour to get it, the server checked on us once in that time, couldn't flag her down for refills. We heard from another tables server that the sushi chefs were backed up, which would have been nice to know from the beginning. Once we received our food all was forgiven because I was craving sushi and my food hit the spot! It was perfect! I would definitely recommend it and maybe calling ahead for a reservation or to see how busy they are. Our server was a sweetheart and apologized when we got our food. The NY NY roll was to die for!

This place never disappoints. We have eaten here many times. The service is fantastic. The food is beyond delicious. The mint micro greens grown in house that topped the creme brulee, holy smokes. The dessert was so good we ate it all before I remembered to take a picture. This place is a must when visiting Durango.

Rayannan M — Google review

The outside looked very sketch. But we walked in anyway and glad we did. Very hopping, real good sushi. I was very surprised at the quality along with the creativity in the dishes. Salmon and Lemon roll was so refreshing and tasty. Would love more Salmon rolls on the menu, as that is my personal favorite, but it was still great sushi.

Julia H — Google review

I waited about 2 weeks to write this review. I wanted to see if the owners would contact me on their own accord, considering that I made some complaints the night I was there. If I were the owner, I definitely would have followed up with a customer that head such a bad experience at my restaurant. Clearly, the owner of East by Southwest doesn't care.I also wanted to wait to see if if my opinion of the evening would change over time. Sometimes it does. Sometimes I have a bad experience and then I think about it later and I am less upset about it. But, that did not happen here. In fact, the more I thought about it, and the longer I waited, The Worst it got.I think of myself as a pretty fair but mostly easy reviewer. You see, I enjoy just about everything that I try and every place that I go. You really have to do something pretty seriously wrong to get a bad review from me. This restaurant gets a bad review.First let me set some background. I came with my family. We were coming to ride The Polar Express, the train that the Durango Silverton train runs in the winter to give families The Polar Express experience. We wanted to have a special night out. And we really thought that picking East by Southwest would be a slam dunk. I mean how could we go wrong, really, based on everything we heard. But the truth is they just didn't care whether we had a good time or not.So let me give you the bottom line up front. (BLUF). From the get-go, our waitress did not listen to us, and the result was bad service. The food tasted bad. The food did not come out all at once. In fact, one meal came out 45 minutes after all of the other meals. It only came out at all because we brought it to their attention. They had completely forgotten to feed one of their guests. The food was enormously overpriced. The quality of the food was low. In one case, the sushi tasted extremely fishy like it had been sitting around too long. And at the end of the meal, we discovered that the owners charge a surcharge it is not listed in the prices, does not go to the staff, and isn't apparently attached to any particular service or food quality. In short, the owner decided to keep prices low by adding a surprise surcharge to the meal. Now some details. Our server wasn't very attentive. She couldn't remember what we ordered. She couldn't get our meals out on time. She forgot one of our meals all together. And then she left before we were done eating. Someone else had to come and take over her station. The food was pretty poor quality. Frankly, we didn't enjoy it. The worst of it was a spider roll with fish that tasted so bad we didn't finish it. The other pieces of sushi were edible, but nothing special. The teriyaki chicken was pretty good, but everything that they put on the plate with the teriyaki chicken was pretty bad. I can only even know if I could identify what some of the things were. It was some kind of Southwest Asian egg roll thing that didn't taste like integral, and didn't taste like southwestern food. It just tasted blah. Even the fried rice we ordered came out Bland and flavorless. I would say it had no texture, but the truth is it had a mono texture to it - mush. That's not really what you want in fried rice. And I would have thought that a restaurant with as much hype as this one could get something simple like fried rice correct. Then additionally, they forgot one of our party's meals. It was another 45 minutes or possibly an hour before my son-in-law was able to eat his dinner. So, the food was bad, the food didn't come out, the staff really didn't care, and all in all it was a terrible experience. Then, they tacked on a surcharge just to put an exclamation point on the end of a bad experience.Bottom line, just don't go here. You will be disappointed if you do.

So good. We didn’t have reservations but were accommodated at the sushi bar. Great service, food and presentation. We made a point of getting reservations for a second dinner while we were in town!

Alan M — Google review

I just want to share that it seems like this establishment has now decided to implement a 3 drink maximum. This is all fine, except for it is not posted anywhere visible, it is not being told to their patrons prior to taking the customer’s order, and it is at seems to be at the discretion of the the individual server and manager on staff at the time. Just be open and honest about policy changes that your establishment has now implemented, especially when customers are spending 100+ dollars on a meal!

Aruna P — Google review

Out of the 11 orders we got two of the Japanese chicken fried rice they both had one inch half hairs. I didn't get diarrhea so it was a plus. The sushi was wonderful, lights led curl pretty much the latest, I would recommend this place after they fire that cook. I forgot to take pictures of the wonderful hair but it's probably cause I got a bit sick.

Last night Dale gave us the BEST experience we could have ever asked for. He gave 150% effort while waiting our tables & the tables around us during our reservation at 6:30pm on 11/17/23. Dale has multiple good suggestions for sake, sushi & desert. The Tiramisu was hands down the best light desert after a hearty meal of fresh Eel & Ramen!Dale even went out of his way to run down the street to give us our take-home bowl of ramen we had accidentally left at our table. Definitely the most memorable dining experience I have had in Durango. We will be coming back soon.

MidnightOracleMinis — Google review

Food was okay, so definitely order the sushi here! Our server was either new, or tweaking because he was so nervous the whole time and kept disappearing on us. He kept forgetting things and was skitzing on something or having a mental breakdown, not sure...If I come back I will stick to the sushi! Oh and the shish*to peppers are sooo good!!! Warning: we tried the wagyu beef hot rock and know that it does not come with any sides....you are basically paying extra for the hot rock plate and you cook it yourself but the sauce is what brings it together nicely, just pricey for the amount of food you actually get. I ordered the pork ramen but I ended up liking the spicy chicken ramen better, but I guess I'm not a huge ramen fan because I much preferred the sushi rolls here!😘🤌❤ Good luck on getting a crazy server!

I realized last night that my husband and I have been going to East by Southwest for 10 years! We are never disappointed! The wait was long but it was a holiday weekend, the place was packed, and I heard they were training new staff. That being said, the service was great, our waiter checked on us many times, and the food was delicious as always. We’ll be back again soon!

Jeanelle W — Google review

Atmosphere, wait staff and food is great. Only thing is, food comes out at different times. So, most the table is eating, while the other half is waiting. I'm only saying this because it happens every time. Other than that, its nice experience.

The food was great! Some of the rolls were big enough to share , which was awesome. The timing of the food wasn’t great, they should have brought out everyone’s food at once but I was done eating mine by the time my husbands finally came out. Also the parking situation sucked.

After driving many hours, my wife and I arrived in Durango, CO, and wanted something tasty but light for dinner. The EAST MEETS SOUTHWEST was in walking distance, so we tried it, and we were very glad we did. There were a lot of dinner options on the menu. I started with the SEAWEED SALAD and my wife chose the CUCUMBER SALAD. Then we decided to share the PAD THAI SHRIMP & CHICKEN, accompanied with a TEMPURA SHRIMP ROLL. Everything was absolutely well-seasoned and delicious, service was very efficient, prices were reasonable, and ambience was very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Tony V — Google review

This is our top 'date night' spot as the food is always amazing & the atmosphere is sophisticated & warm. It is on the pricier side so we leave this as our favorite for special occasions. 😊- Come during happy hour to save on apps & drinks -There is often a wait for dinner, reserve online a few hours ahead! Our fave dishes include: Tempura Rolls, roasted shisito peppers, Jalapenito dish, & the Sesame Tuna & Fuji Apple dish. They also make great drinks!*The only thing I was not a fan of was the ramen - the broth tasted like turkey to me & im not a fan of the thick noodles..

Steak house

Fine dining restaurant

Ore House is a renowned, Western-style steakhouse that focuses on sustainable meats and seafood. It's one of Colorado's oldest establishments, and is famous for its elegant setting and delicious food options. Locals and tourists alike love to enjoy a meal here, thanks to its wide variety of dishes and excellent wine selection.

Enjoyed celebrating here. They had a secret menu which gave extra drink and food options to the already fabulous menu. The waiter gave drink recommendations which was great and discussed switching out sides to make the dish exactly what we wanted. It's pricy but the food, atmosphere and staff make it an experience.

What an amazing dinner and incredible service!! Stopped in to the Ore House for a drink and light dinner at the bar. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented. I highly recommended the Tartare, it was amazing. The entire staff is so attentive, personable, and kind! Everyone makes you feel right at home and makes the dining experience totally enjoyable. Thanks to the entire front and back of house for a beautiful meal!

This is one of the best dining experience my partner and I had so far.It was our first time dining at this place. I was welcomed by some great co*cktails. We were greeted outside by a gentleman that was extremely hospitable. Our server was great and very knowledgeable. I would like to thank Oscor and Ben for making our night so special. The lobster tail was delicious. My husband had a steak and it was so good. I got a champagne as a present since it was my birthday celebration. Cant wait to go there again. Ben you are my favorite .You went above and beyond that night. Great customer service. I would highly recommend this place!

Visiting for our anniversary. The food was phenomenal! Highly recommend the mac and cheese and to try some of the sauces. Every person we interacted with was friendly. My husband wasn’t sure about which wine he wanted and they went above and beyond to find the best glass for him. Sooooo worth trying out the Ore House!

AMAZING! Initial light drink on the house. Steaks were phenomenal. Melt in your mouth. I ordered the Ribeye and my husband had the filet. The cornbread with bacon butter, chefs kiss. The manager came out to check on us, and chatted with us. She was the sweetest! We then received a complimentary cream brûlée. Just because. The best restaurant I have had the experience of enjoying. If ever in Durango again I will be coming back!

We had such an incredible experience. It was our first time visiting .. and from the moment we showed up, it was fantastic. We were greeted outside by a gentleman that was extremely hospitable. Our server was amazing. Knowledgeable , kind , and genuine. The surf surf and turf was out of this world. Filets were perfectly cooked. One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time. So happy we went !

This place is top shelf. Amazing staff everyone was working together. The drinks are flawless and the bar is fantastic. The food is phenomenal with crab cake appetizer and the filet was cooked to perfection. The ambiance of the restaurant completes the experience with dark wood, low light, the decor and seating. The Ore house is more then a restaurant it's an experience. If you have high expectations for quality and service and know that costs a premium for that kind of service you will not be disappointed.

Amazing service and amazing food. The co*cktails were a real surprise- really inventive and unique with a lot of effort in homemade ingredients like a special dirty martini brine and a cilantro tequila infusion. The steak was amazing, and did not disappoint. Brussel sprouts and potatoes were phenomenal. Our waitress was kind, fun, and made the evening feel special.

Amazing service and even better food. Yes, this place is pricy—but it’s a perfect example of “you get what you pay for.” From the half glass of wine for me and mocktail for my 7 year old upon seating to the food and drink recommendations, the service was impeccable and made us feel like we were the most important diners in the restaurant. The food was perfectly timed; none of that “here’s your salad” and three minutes later, your meal. Plan to spend both money and time here—this isn’t a $20 get-in-get-out place—but you’ll enjoy every minute of it.

Kimberly L — Google review

Incredible food, amazing service, and unforgettable atmosphere. Must stop on your next visit to Durango!

Carl M — Google review

Saturday night 5:30. Hostess required me to sit at the empty bar. I had no reservation, so fair enough, but the place wasn’t busy. I ordered surf and turf (with tax $88). No salad, sides or bread, just what is in the pic. The bartender said, “We have cornbread with bacon butter. may I bring you some?” That sounded like an up-charge so I said no. Took forever, the bar had filled up by then and everyone else had food before mine came. No explanation was offered. I just wanted a time machine so I could delete the whole experience. It was the most expensive meal of my life. I feel like an idiot for paying that much. I wanted melted butter for my lobster tail but by then the bartenders were not making eye contact. Food tasted good, I gave it one star because of value. I tipped $22- but I wish I had avoided the whole experience and saved my $110. In my opinion, It was no better than Longhorn Steak House and cost more than triple times as much. After I asked about the food taking a long time they said they were going to get me a beer and a dessert but I didn’t want either- they comped the beer I had. That didn’t work out at all how I wanted it to. I wanted to enjoy a special meal. Photo won’t upload.

Nicci J — Google review

First time going. I strongly suggest making a reservation. We did because we read reviews and very happy I did. Even on a week night I heard people wanting seats to a full restaurant. So was worried about it being dark and dreary but it isnt. It has a nice feel and a touch of class. Our waiter was perfect. Shaun (not sure of spelling) did not rush us, did not consistently check on us and I saw him just take a look every now and then to make sure our glasses were full, and needs met. He was attentive, helpful but in no way caused us to feel like we needed to hurry up and leave. The food was very good. I have had a better steak, but I had no complaints about this one. It was just nice to have a dinner at an establishment that seems to want you there and happy to take care of you based on your speed and need.

This is a MUST-TRY steakhouse when your in Durango. It’s not only delicious, it’s an experience! Every item that touched our table was divine. The drinks, appetizers and entrees were beautifully served. The ambiance was everything perfect and intimate. The staff and server treat you like royalty and our dining standards just went up several notches after Ore House.
